Visitors with reduced mobility
Description
The château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg has been upgrading its facilities and events programme for disabled visitors over the past few years and wishes to offer additional services in this field. As from the second half of 2009, Haut-Kœnigsbourg will have a permanent audiovisual interpretative centre. Principally aimed at persons with reduced mobility, this facility will enable visitors to explore the château by means of a trilingual virtual tour. This tour can be tailored to cater to varying levels of understanding with regard to the information it presents, in line with visitors’ age or disability type. In vision signing and trilingual subtitling are also available. Up to 18 people, including 7 wheelchair users, can view the presentations being shown at any one time. The new centre is open 6 days out of 7 and will also be used for educational purposes one day a week, when specially-tailored heritage workshops will be run. The Conseil Général du Bas-Rhin has invested nearly 500,000 € in the construction of this facility. Work began on February 16th, 2009
