Thanks to the restoration of the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg at the beginning of the 20th century, students have a ready-made teaching tool which will enable them to better understand life in a medieval mountain fortress. The heritage workshop programme is divided between time spent visiting the castle and more 'in-depth' and 'hands-on' activities in the on-site classroom. By means of a tour of the kitchen and the cellar, students will see what kind of foodstuffs were eaten in the Middle Ages, how they were cooked and where and how they were stored. Once they get back to the classroom, the children will set the banqueting table and sample a little hypocras (spiced wine).
