The ground floor: the keep from the inner courtyard

We are in the castle's heart.

The main living areas of the building are arranged around this courtyard.

On the ground floor is the storeroom, which houses the reserves needed for self-sufficient living, and the kitchens to accommodate them.

The south wing houses the most comfortable flats on the 1st and 2nd floors, which benefit from the warmth and exposure to natural light.

The castral chapel is also located in the south wing.

The north wing is less pleasant to live in: it is colder and darker, at least on the 2nd floor, whereas the 1st floor benefits from a certain warmth emanating from the kitchen just below.

  • In the middle you can see the main tower (the keep), which is definitely not used as a dwelling. It serves as a watchtower and also symbolises imperial power.
