These dwellings have the best exposure: it's brighter and warmer.

  • Artificial lighting is costly, so it is important to make the most of natural daylight: to do this, "coussièges" (small benches) were installed next to each window and an oriel (a tower projecting from the facade, with three walls to allow more windows to be inserted).

  • In the living room, a stove provides more diffuse heat, evenly distributed throughout the room, which is nearly impossible to achieve with an open fireplace.
