The second floor: the living room of the southern dwelling

Artificial lighting is costly, so it is important to make the most of natural daylight: to do this, "coussièges" (small benches) were installed next to each window and an oriel (a tower projecting from the facade, with three walls to allow more windows to be inserted).

In the living room, a stove provides more diffuse heat, evenly distributed throughout the room, which is nearly impossible to achieve with an open fireplace.
