Strong attendance – summer holidays

Strong attendance
summer holidays

The castle is currently experiencing very high visitor numbers.

A few tips before visiting the castle:

  • In July and August, the castle is open from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm – last admission at 6.00 pm (except on Mondays, when it opens at 10.30 am).
  • It’s best to visit the fortress early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when it’s a little less crowded.
  • To avoid queuing at the ticket office, remember to buy your tickets online at https://tickets.haut-koenigsbourg.fr/en-GB/home. This will allow you to go straight through to the ticket control desk.
  • For guided tours, tickets must be collected on site (subject to availability).
  • As the waiting area is outdoors, please dress appropriately for the weather. Waiting times can be lengthy.

  • A handy tip to avoid parking problems: consider using the Haut-Koenigsbourg shuttle bus! Full details and timetables are available at: https://www.haut-koenigsbourg.fr/en/practical-informations/the-haut-koenigsbourg-shuttle-bus-l500/. The shuttle also entitles you to a reduced-price admission to the castle (on presentation of your shuttle ticket), as well as to the Volerie des Aigles, the Montagne des Singes and Cigoland.

If you have the opportunity, we’d like to remind you that the late season offers plenty of chances to visit the castle. The shimmering colours of autumn give it a special charm!

In addition, here is a quick reminder of some practical information:

  • The tour route comprises 300 steps of varying heights and directions.
  • Pushchairs are not permitted. If you are visiting with young children, we recommend that you bring a baby carrier.
  • Animals are not permitted, with the exception of guide dogs and assistance dogs (upon presentation of their accreditation card).
  • The 757 restaurant (for individual diners only), the Pavillon, the Shop and the Bookshop are open all day.

Have a lovely summer and enjoy your visit to Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle!
